Realizing the importance of making homes more functional, Dave has taken a special interest in Universal Design (link to feature article) and has continued his education to receive the “Aging in Place” designation from the National Association of Home Builders. Universal Design in home building is the physical design of a home to make it useable by all people to the greatest extent possible. This means a home is designed to accommodate all ages and all abilities. For example, two Universal Design features we often incorporate into our spec homes are wider door ways and wider hall ways which make it easier to maneuver baby strollers, furniture, walkers or wheelchairs. Other Universal design features are step free entrances, larger kitchens and spacious bathrooms. The beauty of our homes are only enhanced by their well-design.
